Currently, in Maiduguri, Borno state, there are 2,083 Internally Displaced People who are Christians in four camps that have been abandoned and neglected because of their beliefs and have never received any help from the government, according to them. Mainly from Gwoza Local Government, which has a majority Christian population, these IDPs have been living in the camp for ten years and have been experiencing acute lack and deprivation since they ran away from Boko haram attack.
The camps are;
1. CAN Center IDP camp, Wulari Jerusalem
It has 405 households and 1,041 individuals currently staying there
2. DCC Shuwari IDP camp
It has 170 households and 720 individuals.
3. EYN Shagari Lowcost IDP Camp
It has 35 households and 142 individuals.
4. Redeemed church IDP Camp, Shagari Low-cost B. It has 47 households and 180 individuals.
They told CSWN that they want to return to their abandoned communities but can’t because it is still insecure.
