Christian Solidarity Worldwide Nigeria (CSWN) – Press Statement

In continuation of the systematic attacks on villages in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, northwest Nigeria by suspected Fulani militia, five villages; Kibori, Apyiako Apiashyim, Atakmawei and Magamiya were simultaneously attacked early Thursday morning of 6th August, 2020, while the villagers were sleeping. Houses were burnt, and 33 people

  1.       Apiashyim – 6 killed
  2.       Kibori – 7 were killed
  3.       Atakmawei – 12 killed
  4.       Apyiako – 3 killed
  5.       Magamiya – 5 killed.

Apart from Thursday’s attacks, five communities in the same Zangon Kataf Local Government Areawere earlier attacked in July with 40 people killed. Thousands of displaced people from the earlier attacks are still living as refugees in an IDP camp in Zonkwa town.  These would now be joined by the survivors from Thursday’s attacks.

Unfortunately, these attacks have now become a recurring blight on the history of the region. More nauseating is the fact that none of these attackers have ever been arrested and prosecuted.  That these attacks and others take place under a 24-hour curfew that was slammed on the whole local government since June 11, 2020, is worrisome.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of CSWN, Rev Nmadu Yunusa Jnr; “Christian Solidarity Worldwide Nigeria totally condemns these attacks that have taken the form of a well-planned, well-armed and well-coordinated siege on rural communities in Southern Kaduna.”

He also added that; “We strongly hold to the opinion that the Kaduna and Federal governments can do more to stop these senseless killing of innocent people in Kaduna state.  The government of Kaduna state and indeed the security agents deployed to the area to enforce the 24 hours curfew owe Nigerians and the whole world an explanation on why a people put under lock are freely being attacked under their watch.”

“While we sympathize with those who lost loved ones and those injured in these latest attacks, we urge the state government to immediately go to the aide of those displaced with relief materials.”

Thank You.

Reuben Buhari
Press Officer, CSWN

Still wondering why the Governor is yet to be seen in southern kaduna to calm the people and identify with them.
    2. Worried about the SSS 3 student who should be preparing for SSCE come 17th August.

It’s a pitty we don’t have govt that cares about the killings of Christian’s in Kaduna State and many more, nobody stayed in the govt forever and not even on Earth forever, whoever is supervising & sponsoring the killings of the faithful shall not go unpunished. If not by man certainly by God for the victory of evil over Death can only be temporary, Every evil deed shall be brought into judgement whether openly or in secret.
